Cost of Parts Keeps Rising

What a world we live in. It seems like since COVID has settled down we now have to contend with rising prices. No one is safe from the increase costs in our everyday purchases. And like everyone else the Automotive Repair shops have also been hit hard. We have resorted to checking almost daily on the parts we most frequently use. Brake Rotors that were bought just a few years ago have risen from an average of $30.00 are now well over $60.00. Pads are now over $40.00. These prices change from vendor to vendor, but, we refuse to lower the quality of our parts to make up for rising prices. It seems like a few years ago we would run a special for "Pads and Rotors" at $199.00. At todays prices that would barely cover the parts alone. My mission when starting this company was to give customers a place that they could go for great customer service at reasonable prices. I still feel we meet that mission. Yes, we have reaised the cost of repairs, we had no choice. I am tired of hearing that about the unavailability of parts and the never-ending rise in cost. Where does it end, is evryone jumping on the " Becuase of COVID" mentality. I recently heard that one company not relarted to our business had a record earning of 2 billion dollars in the first half of 2021. Record profits! Most peopl and business alike are trying to just stay afloat, Ok , this company wasn't some type of company that had huge profits because of the demand for their products during the Pandemic, So often we hear about certain companies that are hitting record profits and yet their products are getting more expensive. Everyone want to make money, but do you need to do it on the backs of the average person. In a time like this,,I have no problem for these large companies doing what is needed to survive, But, how are they having record years?

Enough, time to put on my big boy pants. I promise to stay with my mission. I promise that our prices will reflect our need to survive. If I give out a quote, it will be an honest quote based on parts and labor. My labor rates have not increased in several years, but the cost of parts has certainly gone off the charts.

I have been fortunate that I have not been affected by the availability of parts. I have heard stories that certain dealer parts are on indefinite back order. Some parts have been scarse , but I have extended my list of vendors in order to widen my search for parts. I still do not believe that online parts are a way to go. Although there are rare instances that I too have looked there for parts. I believe in buying parts locally so that if there is a problem I can get immediate service from the vendors. You have no control over the products you get online and once bought, good luck on returning it if the part is inferior.
